This is a short blog about my long weekend trip to Kathmandu, Nepal. I left Hong Kong on the Dragon Air flight at 5:30pm. The flight lands in Dhaka, Bangladesh, but we don't get off the plane there. After a 1 hour stop in Dhaka, we continue for another hour to Kathmandu, landing there shortly after 10 pm local time. (An odd thing about Nepal is that their time zone is GMT+5:45, so the time difference to Hong Kong is 2 hours and 15 minutes.)
Immigration formalities at Kathmandu airport are fairly straightforward. Travelers from most western countries can get a 15 or 30 day visa on arrival. I only stand in line for about 20 min, and pay 25 US Dollars for the visa. Jen, who has been in Nepal for the last 3 weeks and just came back from her trek to Everest base camp (which I couldn't join for work and knee reasons), is there to pick me up with a driver from the hotel. We stay at the Radisson Hotel located just North of the city centre.
